Geography: 1,190 coral islands forming an archipelago of 26 major atolls.  Each Atoll has its own group of islands and has very different ocean and reef structures and a variety of exotic marine life. They stretch over 820 kilometres from north to south and 120 kilometres from east to west. There are 202 islands which are inhabited and 107 are private resort islands. Climate: Generally warm and humid with year-round sunshine. Average temperature is around 29 – 32 degrees Celsius, rarely colder than 25 degrees Celcius.

Religon: The state Religion is Islam and the Maldivians are quietly very devout & faithful Muslims. The religious festivals are followed strictly in all the islands and the laws and customs are made in conjunction with Islam practices. The visitors to the inhabited islands, such as the capital, Male’, must be respectful of the strict customs and  make sure not to act in a unlawful manner. Furthermore, alcohol is not permitted in the inhabited islands, and thus there are no bars or any alcohol sold. However there is no restriction in the resorts as well as the airport, which freely sell.
